Damned and Broken Gods (Labyrinth of Gods #2)
By Debbie Cassidy
~Blurb~
Destiny
can’t be forged until it is chosen.
Still reeling from the loss of a treasured relationship, I’m thrown into a
fresh vat of revelations. Turns out, I’m not just a regular demigod, but one
that has royal asura blood in her veins.
As the last of the royal lineage, I have a claim to the throne.
I can change things. I can make a difference. I can free the drohi and all the
beings that the gods have under their control…
If the throne accepts me.
The seat of power awaits in the Shahee Kshestra, and I won’t be going alone.
Araz, my drohi, my reluctant anchor, will be going with me. Bodyguard,
protector, companion and…maybe even a friend? But nothing more, because once I
ascend our deal will be done, and I’ll be forced to set him free.
I can’t risk giving him my heart, no matter how much I ache to hand it to him.
Because now that he’s no longer against me, now that his golden eyes burn with
longing, not contempt, maintaining a boundary is going to be near impossible.
Enter an Otherworldly realm filled with gods, monsters, and mystical beings.
Opposites attract and love and conflict collide, in this forced proximity
romance.

Do you ever read one of those books that's so good, you want to recommend it to everyone, but then you feel bad for doing it because waiting for the next one is pure torture? Cassidy is the queen of cliffhangers that you don't mind hanging from.
After the last shocking cliffhanger in book one, Leela’s life drastically changes. What doesn’t change? The super-hot fire burning between Leela and Araz, and the never-ending “why won’t they?!” Of course, there’s an increased risk for both of them this time around, but it’s not going to change readers’ minds AT ALL about whether they should just throw caution to the wind. The need for them to do so only gets stronger.
Thankfully, with Leela’s big life change (which I won’t specify in case you haven’t read book one), the most important thing that doesn’t change is Leela herself and what’s important to her. Instead, there’s just added pressure from new potential competition in the tests during her training, a few people that are hard to figure out if they’re going to be friends or enemies, and a huge heaping of political pressure. All of this on top of just trying not to die during all the crazy tests she and her friends are put through.
I thought
book one was awesome. Book two is even better. Book three? I have a feeling we’re
all going to need to buckle up and hold on tight for one incredibly dangerous
ride!
