Once again, Suza Kates gives her readers everything they want in the perfect ending to a fantastic trilogy (plus a few novellas). Readers that miss the experience of the sisterhood of the Charmed sisters will love the Whiteburn sisters — plus their magical mother, uncle and grandad that are still alive.

For new readers, the first question you may have is if this book can be read as a stand-alone. Usually the answer for trilogies like this would be no, but in this case it is a definite yes. Kates does a difficult job seamlessly, as she brings new readers up to date without burying readers who have read the previous books with regurgitated information. That being said, I still HIGHLY recommend reading the previous books first. The three sisters go on such fantastic journeys in love and witchcraft that no reader should want to miss every detail of.

Each book focuses on a different sister, and in this case, it’s about Sami, an enemy in the fairy world that she must face, and vampire-like evil fairies that her enemy is sending after her. With the influx of this evil, it brings three men to their island home from a “company” that specializes in fighting this evil. Readers will get a feel the moment Sami meets ***, the leader of the team sent, of a little bit of “she doth protest too much “. Sami is certainly a hard-headed girl, but seems to fight letting him help a bit too much...like maybe she likes him a bit too much. I loved their banter, and that he wasn’t going to back down and could see right through her.

Kates paints really beautiful worlds, and makes it easy for readers to get immersed in every detail of every location, and every creature they come across. In fact, the story was so immersive that I was really surprised when the book was suddenly already over. Even better, although I’ll miss the sisters and the friends they made, I was very satisfied with the ending and how all of the storylines wrapped up.  Maybe we’ll see the sisters or even their children again someday, but in the meantime, I’m happy with how this one ended — and boy was it eventful — and I can’t recommend this enough.
